Library
The library lists the books on your memory card.
What you see
At the top is Continue reading with the book you read last. Below are your books with cover, title, author and how far you got.
The row above the list filters it: All, Reading, Unread, Finished and Shelves. Shelves group your books as Favourites, By author, By series, By tag and By folder.
In the settings under Library: View shows a List (at first) or Covers; Sort by is Recently read (at first) or By title.
Find a book
Choose Search the library in the library menu. On the home screen you can also swipe down. The on-screen keyboard asks for a title, author, series or tag.
It looks at the title, author, series, file name and tags. Every word you type must match, in any order, and capitals do not matter. When more than 500 books match, it shows the first 500 and asks you to narrow the search.
Tags come from the books themselves. You cannot change them on the reader.
Open and manage a book
Tap a book, or press Select, to open it. Hold it (hold Select on a reader with buttons) to open a sheet with more choices.
- Open, add to or remove from Favourites, Book information, Mark as finished or Mark as unread, Move to the archive and Delete.
Delete asks first. It removes the book with its place, bookmarks and notes, and cannot be undone. Move to the archive keeps the book in the folder books/Archive and out of the way.
New books
Copy books to the books folder of the card (on the reader, or with the card in your computer). PaperPaw looks for new books again when the library opens for the first time after a start or after waking up.
To look right now, press Look for new books. It is a button on an empty library and an entry in the library menu.
If you swap the memory card, restart the reader. PaperPaw reads the card it started with.
A big library, the first time
The first time PaperPaw sees many books, it collects them and shows Collecting the books … and how many it has found. You do not have to wait: you can open a book that is already listed, and the collecting pauses while you read. Thousands of books take a long time, but it happens once.
Afterwards PaperPaw keeps what it made (the list, covers and page layouts) on the card in the folder .paperpaw. If something is missing, it makes it again.
