Widget pack

How it works

The widget pack adds many widgets for the home screen: clocks (analogue, word, tiles, world), a calendar, the year so far, a countdown, the moon phase, and day and date; a quote of the day, notes, to-dos, pictures, a greeting and the PaperPaw logo; and for books, now reading, progress, next up, series, favourites, a highlight and the library in numbers. A battery widget is in it too.

Add them with Edit home screen in the menu (or a long press on the home screen), then Add a widget. Each has settings of its own, such as frame, size and alignment. Choosing a widget that changes, such as the quote of the day, shows the next one. Your own quotes go into quotes.txt in .paperpaw/plugins/widgets on the card, each line as text | author. The time widgets need the clock set; Wi-Fi sets it.

A plugin with code runs with full access to the reader. It can read everything on it, your passwords and other secrets included, and use the network. A faulty one can crash the reader; a hostile one can damage it for good. Install it only if you trust who made it, as you would a program on a computer.

Builds

It is built for the Xteink X4, Xteink X4 Pro and Xteink X4 Classic, made for PaperPaw 0.5. A build runs on every PaperPaw of the same plugin interface. When a release raises the interface, a reader on that release waits until the author makes a new build.

Its code, open to read

The store shows the source of every plugin with code and keeps a copy, and rebuilds each build from that source with the compiler its fingerprint names, to compare. The file served is always the one its author signed.
